I'm in somewhat of a vexed mood of late, so after buying the new Changeling game from Whitewolf I decided to write a little Fae inspired piece.
Upon this rock, they call, the Earth Lives a child of man by birth Ruled by tick and chained by tock Slaves to the running, chiming clock Up at seven, In bed by ten Till the cycle turns again Sun up to down they toil and slave For that paper they love to save
We are born from hedge and thorn Of wandering stars and nevermore Of nightmares last in their blinking eye The closet monster lurking by In mushroom ring and standing stone We have always made our home Eternal as your sleeping minds Stepping through the world as you are blind
We called by some the fairest ones We called by others the Fae We care not for your mortal hearts As cold as winter's day We burn like fire, like the sun's hot core As you dream we play once more Come you wake at your master's call We depart for our shining hall
