Hey guys,
I was just wondering (since the other EQ RPG seems dead) if anyone would be interested in starting up a new one?
I've given it some thought while driving from Alice Springs to Uluru and back (loooooong hours on the road!), and basically my idea was to set it a few years before the movie, when Father and Viviana are still alive, DuPont's still "just" a council member, Preston still a grey coat, etc. Then maybe take an alternative route to the movie plot (*cough*livePartridgelive*cough*) Detailed storylines will naturally not be revealed yet.
Also, to make things a little interesting, I was thinking those of us who have written fan fiction on this board could also introduce our OCs if they fit into the time frame.
e.g. if Libby was to join, she could play Kyra Flynn, and I'd certainly bring Grace Partridge along.
But before I spent hours setting up a board, typing out stuff and all that jazz, anyone interested at all? We'd get started in about 4 - 5 weeks, when I'm back home.
Jen

I'm sure there are those who would be interested... ...but it's not for me.....I kind of got all RPG'd out on the 'Army' thread.

I was just wondering (since the other EQ RPG seems dead) Not seems dead; is dead. Officially now (as the admin of that game, Angelus44 having vanished off the face of the earth) it's over I don't know if I'd have the time to be honest; I don't want to commit to anything right now, but if you do get a site up and running, I'll take a look

Tell me a little more, Cleric ... like what exactly? I'd appreciate more detailed questions, since I don't wanna give too much of possible general plots away, that'd spoil the fun.

If you're looking to do something RPGish and have players participate via the forum, all you need to do is start a thread in "Sense Offenses" (not sure why the "Cleric" RPG thread is still in the main discussion area.) There certainly seems to be enough enthusiasm in that direction in this board's current incarnation.
So I would just go ahead and post your game. If you are going to be formal, add your setting/background, rules of gameplay, etiquette, etc and see what happens.
Speaking for myself, I won't be participating.

I think I'll leave it for the time being... with uni starting and all, I should probably be doing more productive things *cough*write*cough* but we'll see, maybe in the future...

Meh ... let's face it people. (I will say this from a perspective of not having been able to participate in the old RPG that S-J mentions ...)
I don't think EQ is ever going to spawn an RPG of any sort, or anything other than a shoot-em-up style game like the Max Payne MOD. I bow to no one in my admiration for EQ's coolness, but you have to admit folks ... it's kinda thin gruel for an RPG. You don't have monsters. You don't have exotic fantasy locations. You don't have any spells or spell-like high-tech. You have Clerics, Resistance, and ordinary citizens who may or may not be secret sense-offenders. Dungeons & Dragons (think about the very name) and its variants wouldn't have gotten off the ground if the only playable classes had been paladins and rogues ... and NO monsters.
You can certainly use the world of EQ as a basis for fiction ... and I'm one of the worst offenders there ... but that's different from an RPG which depends on multiformity for its appeal. This may also help to explain why we'll never see a sequel to the movie. The world is basically static ... about all you can do is embroider on the limited premises from the film .... Prozium, outlawed emotion, sense-offence, and the conflicts leading up to a revolution. It made one terrific movie ... but there it more or less ends except for spinning out the ravelled ends of the movie's scenario. Shoot me if I'm wrong --I am, often enough. But that's the way it looks to me.

well, I reckon outside of the movie plot itself, there's plenty of opportunities (if you keep it real - i.e. no sense offendeing Clerics or every corner)
but as I said, this came up to me at a time when I had lots and lots of freetime, so it's different now. oh well. good ideas don't go away, I'll see what becomes of this. mayve I can use it for CTI
