Hey all ... bet ya didn't know everyone's favourite Cleric moonlighted as a singer!! (Well out of Dupont's sight no doubt!!) Johnny Preston's biggest hit was "Running Bear," which was written for him by J. P. Richardson, alias The Big Bopper (of "Chantilly Lace" fame). BB was inspired, interestingly, at least in part by a TV commercial he had seen for Dove Soap! The BB never had a #1 hit himself, but his "Running Bear" did go to #1, unforunately only after his death in the same plane crash which killed Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. (Reportedly a Cleric named Brandt had been seen near the plane's engines before it took off ... )
