I am really getting sick of those forums over there.....the mods are assholes who jump down your throat if you miss a thread and start a new one of the same topic on accident....espcially that Devin guy, he's the worse....no one seems to respect others opinions on things, there is constant complaining from all sorts of people about the most pointless things, like a recent complaint from said Devin guy that the Asian films thread is too much for him...get over it....I like the site even though I think Nick and the boys sometimes miss news updates that I see first on other sites, so the site is not what I have a problem with...its the boards...when I first came there shorlyl after EQ came out which is where I first read about the film....I found it to be a great place to talk about movies, tv, and whatever else, but lately its just annoyed the shit out of me....maybe I'm in the minority on this but I had to vent on this so thanks for reading...
a couple of suggestions for them to fix things......
-- Mods need to let people be and not worry about new threads....instead if they are worried about bandwidth space go delete the threadas that have been there since early 2002 or even further back...that would help....
-- There are way too many forums on there......cut it back some..do they really need 20 different categories....
-- the say to post news through email only...well respond to the fucking emails and people wouldn't have to post it ont he boards....they never seem to check their email over there...
anyway like I said I just had to vent so thre and I at least made it EQ related a bit with the EQ mention!!!

A couple of things to add to this....Nick needs new reviewers and writers.....did the guy who reviewd Bulletproof Monk even watch the movie or did he jsut decide to hate it right away...now I haven't seen it yet so I can't say whether he's right but that was a terrible review from the standpoint that he did not review the movie, he just said how much he hated it.... a review is supposed to be bias not your own opinion....I don't know but I don't think I'm going back to CHud to often anymore, I may chime in everyonce in a while but thats about it.

Hey Nouse, Sorry to hear that you are having CHUD pain. I have to tell you that I feel some of your pain as well but maybe I can give you a bit of insight that might help (funny I spelled it "inshite" but fixed it  ). Having met many of the Chewers over the weekend including some of the mods and Nick I have to say that I really like them all. They just want CHUD and the boards there to be successful. (Of course Devin wasn't there and thank goodness he's not a mod.) A post last week described it the best, CHUD use to be a sleepy little town and its quickly becoming a sprawling metropolis. Growing pains are inevitable and the message board is where this is the most apparent. I've seen this exact cycle time and time again on many boards. The kinks are still being worked out as new comers and old timers find their comfort zone and as Nick and the crew figure out moderation. It may remain rough for awhile. On news items I asked Nick this weekend if he got my Ultraviolet tip. He told me that he got over 14 of them. At that point he has to get his article formatted and up on his site. Being a webmaster I can tell you that it takes time. Thank God I'm not in the business of breaking news!! If Nick had to email each person every time they submitted an item it would take him all day just to do that. I only get a few and it still takes a good portion of my day. It seems to me that much of your problem is with Devin (as is mine). Can't give you much advice on him but he's a CHUD fixture. If he harasses me I usually harass him right back with a touch of humor (you have to be tough to do that though and ready for a fight.) I noticed his reaction to your news post the other day. Just figure out some smart remark but be warned his minions will mass. Been there...done that...enjoyed every minute!!! (looking both ways) Should I admit that I usually don't even read reviews until after seeing a flick. Never would have seen EQ if I did. |

Yeah Jen you're right and I think Nick does a great job with the site and I do remember that post about Chud being a growing metropolis...hoepfully they get it all worked out....and I'm poretty sure Devin is a mod in at least one of the forums (Never mind I went and checked I got him mixed up with the Dave Davis mod who is also not that nice sometimes and STAR CHAMBER seems to be pretty cool too) ......but it doesn't matter, the guys a jerk and I also hate the fact that if you flame Chud in anyway they want to kick you out or something cuase htere have been times I wanted to but I didn't cause I did not want the trouble...like I said I will still chimein every once in a while and go there for news but I'm gonna avoid the boards as much as I can until it gets better.

When I started building this site I had less time to spend on CHUD's board and it was the best thing that ever happened. I avoided most of the trouble. Just give it some time. I'm sure things will smooth out. You posted some great stuff about EQ there and I know Nick appreciates any Equilibrium information/pictures. In fact over the weekend I mentioned that I hadn't posted the Japanese poster there yet because I keep feeling like I'm spamming CHUD. He told me that anything EQ related is more than welcome. We just have to make sure that we're not taking bandwidth. Nouse you're always welcome to use my bandwidth (hhuuummmm......why did that sound suggestive??  ) |

I know Nick appreciates it amd if I come across DVD art or whatever I will probably continue to go there and only post when I really want to say something but I'm gonna try to stay away from some aspects of it for a while I think. |

altough i love CHUD, some are a little jumpy on the boards sometimes. i dont really mind them not being up to speed on all the movie news, i simply enjoy reading their perspective on the news. as for the bulletproof monk review, that movie got what it deserved. it was horrible and should be shown no mercy. their reviews are great IMO, and are what keep me returning there.

Bad reviews can often lead to low or no expectation if you do choose to see a film. Sometimes that can actually be a good thing and make a flick more enjoyable. Higher expectation can lead to greater disappointment when a film doesn't fulfill.
Now on Bulletproof Monk. I haven't seen it yet but I said this early on CHUD... the mere pairing of Yun-Fat Chow and Seann William Scott is either the stupidest casting choice or one of the most brilliant.
