At, perhaps, the risk of redundancy, I thought I'd ask about fantasy casting for another EQ movie. I've been checking on on the "Female Cleric" thread and the "EQ2" thread, and others, but I've found very little on who the loyal fans (viz., us) would like to see appearing--besides, of course, Senor Bale. With or without him, who do you think 'ud do a good job Clericking? Or Sweeping? Or Resisting? Or administering the Tetragrammaton? If they were to have a lead role with a female Cleric, who do you fancy? (Apart from Friv or Mira, either of whom would of course would be perfect! ;D) I have my own ideas, but I thought I'd throw it out there first. My ideas tend to rather un-conventional!

Crikey Friv! Clever bit of chopping there! Old JP doesn't do it for me though I'm afraid...sorry! LOL, well nobody can replace Bale as Preston but I reckon Billy Bob Thornton would make a good bad guy...in the same mould as DuPont...and John Malkovich could be great as another Father figure. Anjelina Jolie and Milla Jovovich would HAVE to be female Clerics - they seriously kick ass! Predictable I know, but I really can't envisage any other strong female characters in that type of role...apart from maybe Uma Thurman in her Kill Bill incarnation. Aedh was this the kind of thing you meant? Or am I way off the mark here? I'll stop for now in case I've misunderstood you.

I'd prefer an anime version (draw whatever you like!). Unfortunately, I'm not good enough at graphics.

It really depends on the story, since the story would dictate the type of personality needed for the character. For example for Clericwolf's "Ashes" story, I had visualized Claudia Black as Tara Night. To me she had the believabilty of being a fighter, but also the sense of humor for the character.
I tend to favor actresses that are convincing that they can deliver on being effective fighters/warriors/officers/etc. And that's a shorter list than you would think. I think we'd have to fish for unknowns. As for who would make a good male cleric, again I need the story.

For "Ashes" I like Amanda Tapping as Tara. Kiara Hunter would also be good. In the story I'm working on ... I'm actually successfully visualizing Pierce Brosnan as Preston (older), with Kenneth Branagh, Sam Elliott, Charlotte Rampling, and Asia Argento for other roles. (If you're going to dream, don't dream low-budget!

Pierce Brosnan as an older Preston? Interesting idea. I like Kenneth Branagh too - was he earmarked for a goodie or baddie role? I see him as a baddie but that's just me thinking back to his role in Othello probably. *shrug* Is Ashes II going to be set a few years after Ashes I then?

No, this is "Roses For Maria." I wrote to Libby about the story, and it seems that the beginning of "Roses" is strangely compatible with the approximate winding-down of "Treading On Dreams," to the point where she has granted me permission to carry over with a couple of things. In my story, Preston is greying, with grown children. The character for whom envisioning Branagh helps me write is ... sympathetic. I prefer that term to 'good.' I shy away from "good guys" and "bad guys." My characters tend to be rather complex. And there is also a character whom I envision as played by Talisa Soto. As my literary training comes out of writing plays and telescripts, I tend to be very oriented toward visuality and dialogue.

Ah...sorry for the misunderstanding. I wish I was creative in the way you are. I always have imaginary scenes going through my head (like a music video) when I listen to music/songs I particularly enjoy and I have what I consider a very vivid imagination but I couldn't transfer that into writing the way you do.

Okay I have 2 candidates for both genders.
Male cleric 1- The dude who played the human torch in Fantastic 4
Male cleric 2- Viggo Mortesen
Female Cleric 1- Ashley Scott
Female Cleric 2- Jennifer Garner because I'm in love with that woman.

More interesting choices there Snake. I can totally see Viggo as a Cleric...the strong silent type.

Yeah I would have agreed with Michael Biehn but if has anyone seen how he looks now he's too scrawny for that now. well, as it's Fantasy Cleric Casting, just remember the younger version, and if Joaquin's hair bothers you too, just pretend he's been given a haircut.

Thanks Frivy for stepping in. Yes, just imagine them the way you want them to look. ;D
Biehn looking scrawny? (In the sense of thin?) I've seen a recent photo where he attended a Terminator Q&A - he didn't look scrawny at all, but pretty normal. Older? Yes, sure. After all he just turned 50.

I can imagine Nicholas Cage playing a Cleric. I don't like him very much, but I think he'd make, say, a good Dupont Jr. type if they needed another turncoat.

I think Nicolas Cage could make a pretty good Cleric. I was trying to think of some other good candidates for Clerics...how about Edward Norton or Tim Roth?

Tim Roth yeah but not nicolas cage and Ed Norton. You know what how about an Asian actors like Andy Lau and Donnie Yen?

Tim Roth yeah but not nicolas cage and Ed Norton. You know what how about an Asian actors like Andy Lau and Donnie Yen? Donnie Yen would be great. He's way underused in the parts he gets in American films. They always kill off his characters and we never get to see him do much action as a result. It's almost a running gag. Don't recall Andy Lau offhand. Will need to check IMDB.

I'm actually successfully visualizing Pierce Brosnan as Preston (older) Actually I don't think you're way off there. A friend of mine has based a character of hers in an original novel visually off of Pierce Brosnan. She could never visualize that character's son however. When I shown her EQ, she went "That's Joren!" which is of course, the son.

It doesn't hurt that Brosnan is fifty-three this year, which is just the age Preston is in my story. I agree about Donnie Yen.

Well to people who don't know Andy Lau he's come out in movies like THE DUEL, INFERNAL AFFAIRS, HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, FULL-TIME KILLER. But the problem is that he's only done Asian movies so I don't know if he speaks english.
