This thread, I must say, is like a fine wine. It keeps getting better with age.
xmarksthespot: Great observations. I'll have to watch and see. I've taken so many notes that I'll probably have to watch the whole movie in slow motion...;D

Don't remember if this one's posted....
Nethers. The sweeper captains helmet. The visor was blacked out. When he pulls up to Preston, the visor opens up to the shape of a "T", then open to full face. That little piece was awesome..!!!

Bah! I just noticed a MAJOR MISTAKE in EQ when I rented it out the other day (I'm in the UK, so it's not out to buy yet) And I noticed something very odd in the sword fight at the end. Preston has no sword so he takes one from the guy behind. After he slices a few of the guards he takes one guy's (the same guy he took the sword from) sword scabbard, and used it to deflect some attacks. Then he ends up with just two guys, one in front and one behind and he stabs them both. But with only one sword! Watch it closely. The guy behind gets the sword and the guy infront gets stabbed -somehow- by the scabbard! There is no way Preston gets hold of two swords. He could just be pushing the already dead guy down but it doesn't look like it. Very bizarre.

(it would be better in slow motion) you can see that while Preston was spinning (and was stopping with his sword the hits of his adversary) the opponent behind him cuts into slices Peston's scabbard with his own sword, and making it so the opponent himself gives Preston somehow a new kind of weapon (sword alike). I hope I made myself clear....

So, essentially, Preston is left with a sword and a jagged-edged scabbard with which to stab the last two Clerics? I must say that some of these observations are really good - you must have taken ages scanning EQ for them. Deimos

;D Fantastic observations, people!
When we see the (disturbingly nazi-like, as has been pointed out) flag in Libria, did it strike anyone else that the quad-speaker post next to it has the speakers resembling, as closely as possible, the tetragrammaton symbol?

has anyone noticed the extreme nazi parallels im EQ? it's just EVERYTHING: the people that must not feel, the sign they use (it's a variation of the nazi-cross), the uniforms the guards of the father are wearing, the black cleric robes (the ss wore black, too), the bare-chested guys doing tai-chi or whatnot (VERY leni riefenstahl that bit),... maybe it's just coz i'm german and we are taught to see the signs everywhere

so as you can see it's more than just the sign that's being used on the flags. btw, the speakers reminded me of the ones they had in concentration camps. plus the broadcasts of the father's speaches are very much like hitler wanted his views to be proclaimed.

I can't believe I missed the sliced scabbard thing! I watched it about five times in slow motion and didn't realise that's what happened!

I've taken so many notes that I'll probably have to watch the whole movie in slow motion...;D I was thinking that myself. I need to watch the whole movie in slow motion. That would be such a great spectacle. I think I'm gonna do it. Wonder how long it will take? Doesn't matter. It's worth it. ;D

Near the end during a sword fight, I like when Preston slices a sword's sheath, which he then uses to kill one of the guards in DuPont's office. ;D ;D ;D

I also really like the lavish decor in the Tetragrammaton palace... yet another subtle pointer to the hypocrisy of the system.

Further proof that Bale kicks ass in ways you and I can only imagine: I was watching EQ about ten minuits, ago, saw something, hit pause and rushed on-line to post this. It's not a huge thing, but I've never noticed it before because it happens SO damn fast, but it's SO damn impressive. It's in the scene where the Sweepers take Prestons wife. First, Preston grabbes the rifle of sweeper one and throws him with it. Then, still holding the rifle of Sweeper 1, Preston knocks away the rifle of Sweeper 2 and slammes the rifle of Sweeper 1 against 2's throat. Right? Wrong. Watch it in slow motion. I won't spoil it, but's it's so impressive that Bale just did that on the spot with no real training. The man has speed and reactions I would KILL for. P.S If everyone else has already seen this and it's old news, then sue me. I'm broke anyway. was watching the movie with the bo and pointing this out to him and we watched it about 10 times in a row... WOW! you can't even see it in regular speed and even in slow mo it's almost too fast... great catch and amazing sequence!

That's actually the first time i've ever seen anything like that, and i've seen a lot of action movies... kudos to wimmer! Me, too. Yeah, I was so impressed by that. At first, I'd thought, hey, wait a minute, he just impaled someone with a sheath. Is that possible? Maybe with enough force. But then when I watched more closely, I saw the sheath sliced beforehand. Way way cool!!!

(well.... actually I noticed the sliced scabbard just the 2nd time I watched it ;D) The moves are really fast.... but you appreciate so much his grace and elegance.... a great work!

Finally got my copy of EQ ;D During the opening scene, I noticed something peculiar. The clerics in formation performing Gun-kata are all wearing black outfits. When they pan in and show the two clerics, they have no shirts When they back out again, they're all dressed......... A little editing error ;D

Just before the Mona Lisa is torched, the authenticity tool used by the technician has the four "T"s around the edge of the scanner display...
In the first meeting between DuPont and Preston, the high-back chair that Dupont sits in looks like a "T".
I mentioned the four "T"s on the outside of the steel document case...when it's open during Dupont's interview with Preston at their first meeting, they appear inside....
They're everywhere, I tell you...!!!

I consider subtlety a lost commodity in movies these days. I like a movie, such as EQ, that requires more than a few viewings to catch "everything" that the director has implanted. Wimmer's talent is impressive. After all, we have 10 pages just on our observations, and there aren't many repeats....

Don't know if it's been said already but I don't have time to read the whole thread right now... but did you notice at the end, when you hear the bombs exploding, when we see the kid in school(?) and the daughter, they took the same scene as when she's eating cereal at the table, then we go to her hand being licked by the dog like she's almost knealing, and go back to the scene where you see the cereal bowl again... sorry if it was said already, I know my boyfriend didn't notice it at first and I had to do the old-rewind on that one to show him
