Your friend has good reason to rave about them, Beefie. You'll find out as soon as you hit play button I can't properly function during the day without my daily dose of Proz... Nightwish, eh Played it while getting the dinner ready. All I can say is WOW!! Absolutely excellent!! Loved it. ;D ;D Is now at home in my CD player in the kitchen. The Phatom of the Opera track was just awesome, as you say. Another favorite was Forever Yours, very haunting track, reminded me a bit of the theme to Gladiator... very nice. Also 'Bless the Child'. Great starting track to a fantastic CD. Thanks for the heads up Agi. ;D Have you any more info on them or lyrics, or know where I can look for it??.

Gene & I discovered Nightwish when we were in Germany last Summer while watching German MTV (yes, it is very different than USA). She brought one of their singles back with us. A few weeks ago we discovered that Best Buy had them. I would say over all currenly they are my family's favorite group. It's difficult to find one that 10 people enjoy...the other is Evanescence.

My friend described Nightwish as a heavier version of Evanescence which is almost right. Also like Rammstein, a German group. ;D (for those of you that don't know them, they appear and perform at the beginning of xXx) - awesome live!!

Found some nightwish......sweet stuff. I got "Encore" by eminem, like it actually..... I'm eclektic(sp??) so I'll listen to it all. Though I'm listening to Rasputina right now and before that It was Ram jam's "black Betty"...... I'm a sucker for that one song ;D I need some suggestions folks:
I'm trying to broaden my music collection....so I need groups or ppl to listen to in the following genres
Metal (off the wall smaller groups since this is what I listen to the most) Country Pop/Rap Classical(both classic, and modern stuff) Oldies Electrionica(goa, trance, techno, etc...) sub genres any industrial stuff
Anything you'd think someone with about 10,000 Mp3's would like.......
I NEED NEW SONGS!!!!! ;D

Hmm, well, my knowledge is mostly in Death Metal, but I'll see what else I can think of... For death metal: In Flames are my personal favorite. Best CDs are Clayman and Colony, but the rest are also awesome. Dark Tranquillity is like In Flames (IF's frontman used to sing for DT) except more mythical sounding. At the Gates is excellent, as well as Soilwork. Those were some lighter Death Metal bands (yes, it gets very dark here). The most downtuned, harsh sounding band I know of is Meshuggah (best album is "Nothing"). The Haunted is also really hard, really fast, and pure evil. Opeth is also another great one to look out for. Whoops, I almost forgot Corperation 187. Moving away from that, Dimmu Borgir is an excellent combination of Death and really evil sounding syphony/organs. Children of Bodom are equally great. But those two are hard-core Satan, so don't venture there if you're into god. That was all straight from Scandanavia. Here are my favorite non-death bands, by sub-genre. Thrash: Slayer, Pantera, Testament, early Metallica Industrial: Spineshank, Powerman 5000 Classic: Black Sabbath, Ministry, Iron Maiden Hard: Black Label Society, Rage Against the Machine, Strapping Young Lad, Shadows Fall This is really just the tip of the iceberg, the popular acts out there. If you want more information than you'll ever need, go to www.allmusic.com, the best music site out there. Explore it a lot, it's a great resource for any person interested in any music.

Right now my kids just keep replaying the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack that I bought over & over. I couldn't get away from it even if I wanted to.
They played for me the Nightwish version of one of the Phantom songs...AWESOME!!

Best track from it is 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' absolutely fantastic track, one of my all time favorites and it last about 22 mins. - Simply awesome!!

Death in Vegas: The Contino Sessions.
I really love the song Aisha. It's about a serial killer. Here are some of the lyrics:
''Aisha, we've only just met, but I think you oughtta know I'm a murderer...baby it's only the blood...I have a portrait on my wall, he's a serial killer, i thought he wouldn't escape. Aisha: he got out!"
"I still wanna be human. What am I...what am I? I'm a murderer...I'm a murderer, the gods all suck!"
Anyone heard this song?

At the present time, I have the Three Days Grace CD in my stereo. Not too shabby. Before that...a burned CD I made, titled Metallica's Greatest (they need to make bigger CDS...I couldn't fit 'em all). And then, before that, Jakalope.

You need to upgrade to a CD player that reads MP3 discs - I just put 146 Iron Maiden songs on there - 11 hours and 27 minutes.

Well, on my shiny new iPod (woohoo!) I am currently listening to The Bluetones best of CD. Loving the lyrics to "Cut Some Rug":
"You always seem to be a million miles away/and as far as I'm concerned/that's where you can stay... It's easy living in a bubble but it's hard to have/responsibility/and judging by you/a personality"

Currently listening to Electric Six non-stop. I am now completely addicted to them, but they are virtually unknown around here, so I'm talking about them almost as much as I talk about Equilibrium...

::Wipes tear from eye:: That's absolutely beautiful Heh, that's not even all of them...Its the first CDs through Fear of the Dark (minus about half of FotD), and I left out a couple of discs that I didn't have (the ones with Blaze), Brave New World, and then I included all of the B-sides from the 10 Wasted Years boxed set (except the Listen With Nicko series), a concert from 1982 in New York, and half of Tattooed Millionaire.

Ah, Electric Six. The Gay Bar music video horrified me, though. Actually, all their videos kind of frightened me. I really didn't like the "Danger! High Voltage!" one at all either. I understand they are trying to shock people, so I wasn't particularly upset, I just wish I could have been more satisfied, as I do like the music so much.

Had Scissor Sisters, The Dark Half (Compilation) and Placebo for Christmas, so each has had a turn playing, but have now gone back to Nightwish (great for listening to when your doing the ironing ;D) Still playing Depeche Mode's Ultra very loudly in the car though. 'Just Can't Get Enough' of them ;D
