for some reason i expect it to be a lil more than a popcorn movie.....
godzilla was a popcorn movie.....
i expect this to be something like the new 5th element.....
king kong was a popcorn movie........thats its main problem...a 3 hour popcorn movie...makes no sense......but thats another discussion alltogether......
i dont thik this is gonna be your standered popcorn movie.....im expecting something like a die hard demolition man...5th element.......not really a popcorn movie...and not really a drama either...
just damn good action.....with an INTERESTING story

so your saying die hard and godzilla are in the same realm? .......
no no no......just because its an action film dosent make it a popcorn film.....
RE movies are popcorn films.......
cheesy films with action ....bunch of "cool" lines and sub-par acting make up popcorn films....usually bigger budgets and lots of special effects.....another example
day after tommorow = popcorn film hard-boiled = not popcorn film godzilla = popcorn film Equilibrium = not popcorn film tomb raider :cradle of life = popcorn film desperado = not popcorn film The Matrix : goes either way depending on why you watch it miority report(just saw today...yea im 4 years late...sue me) = Not Popcorn movie King kong = popcorn movie 5th element = not popcorn movie natioal Tresure = popcorn movie Pitch black = not popcorn movie
i think the patter i see is.....popcorn movies are all style or effects little story...... while not-popcorn movies have both....or less effects
just because a movie has stylized action dosent make it a popcorn movie..... popcorn movies are movies you see and the forget about 2 months later.....

Not certain I agree with you there dude. I'm pretty sure that, with maybe the exception of EQ and Minority Report and the Matrix, all the films you mentioned above are Popcorn flicks. (Hell, even those three might qualify for some people.) Hard Boiled and Desperado most certainly are pure popcorn, and they are utterly fantasic, memorable movies. Popcorn movies can be some of the greatest films ever made. Raiders of the Lost Ark is pure popcorn and one of my favourate movies ever.
The difference is, the movies you list as "Popcorn movies" (Tomb Raider, Godzilla, Day After Tomorrow" are poorly made Popcorn flicks, with bad scripts, plots and/or direction. That's why they are forgettable.

i dunno...a popcorn movie to me is a movie that was either doone for
100 percent entertainment 100 percent making money
or 50 percent making money 50 percent entertainment...
most films with some sort of messege behind em.....i wouldent consider a popcorn movie...
but thats just the way i see it....
and i know popcorn movies can be good...
i like independence day...yea i know...it has a enormous ammount of flaws.....
I.E why would a aliens computer even recognize a virsus for a earth system like microsft or mac.... but the movies entertaing enuff for ME at least to suspend disbelif.....and enjoy the movie....
