Fortunately, lack of TV insulates me from the more immediate visual horrors of the daily news. What I got from the radio was quite enough.

I did not watch the news - Lately I choose to not watch the tv news and just read the news on the 'net. That way I can still be informed without all of the 'visual aids' or 'over coverage'. The way the tv news slobbers over tragic events makes me sad. They certainly do not pay respect to the people who have suffered or are suffering and therefore they do not deserve my attention. They had a press conference this morning about the tragedy. It's so sad. I know people who go there (none of which were injured) and it's just a horrible event. ************************ As to what I'm doing. I just got informed that I might be working late in which case my evening plans with a certain guy have been canceled. But I guess - given the events that others are going through - it could be worse.

The BBC news coverage was very professional and informative - you never get any of the "sensationalist" style of reporting that seems to be common in the USA. Even SKY News here can get a bit OTT at times. Still busy here at work...but the stress levels are lower this week thankfully.

Working, working and working... Several weeks without days off! Trying in vain to find some free time and finish the several posts I prepared for the Army thread... I start hating the office, my boss and my co-workers... But I still love the computer! ;D

Well, I'm back from camping. Nice to have a home shower again but man the world is falling apart. I can bearly watch the news and my internet connection is in the dumps. Have to kick start it every 5 minutes so now I'm at the local coffee shop. I'm going to try and finally get an update on the site done. Man...it's been forever!!!

I'm in the process of customizing a "happy meal" toy car.......
The local burger joint nearby was giving out these little plastic toy cars with the kids meal. So, I've taken it apart, and I'm now in the process of grinding out material on the inside to place the axle holder/"chassis" back on with the tires tucked in to the body, and make it a "lowrider".
I have to cut the axles in order to tuck them into the body, but a little solder, and I'll be back in business......
weird hobby of mine, but it's a cool time waster ;D

I used to do the same thing with figures and gi-joes. Make 'em into customized figures etc - but then I got too busy. Currently - working yet again. Will be working this weekend too - but I'm making time to go see Hot Fuzz on Sunday. ;D

Triaging my hour web time... My 1000 piece puzzle at home is coming alone nicely though. Do you use puzzle glue when you're done JenGe or do you just push it back in the box? I have a few puzzles that I glued when I was done with them - just curious. ;D

I have a few puzzles that I glued when I was done with them - just curious. ;D No, I never glue them. There would be way too many and I only like a few things on my wall. On to my current web issues, we have finally discovered the problem. Apparently we just discovered that our server only allots about 200MB of web download/uploads a day and then we get throttled. Well ever since the kids bought the XBox-360 we've gone over that allotment daily. Example, last night one of the kids logged on and downloaded 150 MB of stuff (Anime, U-tube, i-tunes...) in about 2 hours. We are currently looking into resolving the issue. Just downloading my files for my on-line classes would cause problems. Again I am using the school computer since we've been throttled again.

Trying not to sleep... Due to the thesis I had to postpone a not-so-small translation I gotta do up till today noon... wouldn't be a problem, if not for the fact that our housing association chose TODAY MORNING to cut the power from 8 till 11 AM... So I gotta do it and send it within next 2 hours... Just my luck

You know I absolutely loathe DHCP via windows, I had that happen...it knocked every PC and console off the network...sooo...I hit it with a mallet (aka the manual network option)
It takes some fiddling, but if you can do it...it saves a lot of hassle.

We'll the connection is better for the time being.
Busy getting son #5 ready for his last "Pinewood Derby" tonight. Usually I'm banned from these but the hubby has a father/daughter thing to do with daughter #2 and the older kids will all be at school. I'm the last resort. I hate this...but the kids love it.
