Well...getting that 'epic' feel rolling over me now. Very easy to get lost in Wyrden's murderous dark alleys. Have to admit to having a few 'Ancient Mariner' moments (y'know, the 'Like one, that on a lonesome road doth walk in fear and dread...' bit). Stunning stuff.

Chugging along nicely, bloke! Some very sweet work there, even its un-edited form.
You really do make it so easy to picture the world you write about with your descriptive flair. I'd have to say thats probably what I like best about your work...the meticulous wordsmithing which so vividly portrays even the most ordinary events/objects as something extra-ordinary!

Once again thanks very much for the comments and support all. I might be crafting some board-only side-stories for Wyrden just to give you a glimpse at some other aspects of it, some ideas that won't be in books 1-3

Just a little update, been working more on the book. I've had to do some other things and come back to this, but the big news that's just about to break is:
I've been asked already about 'first dibs' by a UK based PC game publisher, for a series of games based on it.

Thanks I, skippy.
Wyrden Update: 9,587 words in the last leg of the journey, pretty soon Book One will be complete and I can breathe a sigh of relief in a way.
Also knowing that I have written the biggest thing I have ever done in my life. I would say the last 100 pages will be about 20,000 words in total unless I decide to add more to the book to sharpen things up.
To put things in a bit of perspective, Jade Empire has about 14,000 words of spoken dialogue in the game. I have nearly 80,000 words of text in my book.
In total at the moment: 74,434 words.

Update part II: Ok, not done as much as I wanted to on this, came up with several problems and had to trash around 20 pages...not to worry though, not only did I re-write those in record time, I also am now at 60 pages in part 4.
I write books in sections, such sections are usually in 100 page chunks. It makes it easier on editors.

I can't figure out why I never came back to this. For my lapse I apologize. I absolutely love the excerpt from chapter 10. Chapter 8 was excellent; very descriptive, I really felt like I was there. But...10...Holy shit. The action, and the idea behind what was happening just blew me away. I also liked the pool of blood basically exploding. Reminded me of the Johnny Depp death scene in Nightmare on Elm Street. A hole opens in his bed where he's pulled through it, and this fountain of blood comes flying out, speading across the ceiling.
Fucking cool.

Ah, it was Depp in that movie...I remember that scene now, was a kid when I saw that film. It rocked though, thanks for the comments Stupon.
There's a new character made her way into Wyrden at the moment - who's making a bit of a dangerous name for herself, she came from an unused idea of mine concerning ninja and assassins.

I don't know if this was covered...but...408 pages of how Word sees pages, or 408 pages of average novel sized paper? Either way, that's fucking huge.

As it's formatted now Stupon, well, 408 pages of the text I wrote will be 408 pages of the book. Each one page of Word is equivalent to one page of the novel the way I was told to write/format 88,541 words in total. Thanks as well Libby

It is unfortunate. Too often I have found the internet and especially message boards to be full of inconsiderate people who think that behavior makes little difference since it is a virtual reality. Like I've stated before this quote from Devil's Advocate always comes to mind...
"You sharpen the human appetite to the point where it can split atoms with its desire; you build egos the size of cathedrals; fiber-optically connect the world to every eager impulse; grease even the dullest dreams with these dollar-green, gold-plated fantasies, until every human becomes an aspiring emperor, becomes his own God... and where can you go from there?"
...the internet in a nutshell.
Sometimes people do not seem to understand that opinions really are non issues since we all have our own personal tastes and likes. True maturity, and security comes not only when you have confidence in your own opinions but are not threatened by others.
Wolf, you obviously have my tastes pegged to a tee (I am still in your debt for recommending Brotherhood of the Wolf.) You write exactly what I find missing in many literary works today. We seek after the art that most represents us and touches us. For me it is what you do.

Yep Jen, you always actually help me to put things in perspective, you're right up there with the comment about confidence in your own opinions. It's when you are accused of being a Pompous Douchebag by complete strangers that it really does get to you, I shouldn't let it really.
It's nice to know that I do peg your tastes, I think you'll find Wyrden a very interesting and dark place to be.
