Well, since the film is actually about emotions, what scene in the film touched you the most on a emotional level? (optional - and why?)

All the scenes mentioned touched me, too. I'd like to add that I got emotional when I saw how hearing music for the first time affected Preston. Great acting by Bale in that scene.

Definitely the puppy scene. When they are about to kill that sweet little puppy and he runs out and Preston picks him up and then he licks him on the nose. I thought that I had never seen anyone show such emotion in acting..without really showing emotion. If that makes any sense..hehe

Theres a couple of scenes that got me. The first was when they break in and take his wife away. The other is when hes running to save mary and arrives too late.

![](http://www.freewebs.com/equilibrium-movie/eq3-window.jpg) EQ seems to have soooo many great emotional scenes but here are the two that touched me deepest. One is just after Brandt shoots the old man in to Preston's arms. For me that is a powerful moment when Preston looks at his hands and gun covered with blood and for the first time in his life has an internal emotional reaction to his responsibilities as a Grammaton Cleric. The other is at the window when he removes the film from it and really sees his world for the first time. There are many powerful and deeply touching scenes in this film.

Well folks, for me it was a few. The "dawn" scene Jen mentions is pretty awesome. Can you imagine feeling a dawn for the first time?
Seeing Preston use the same lines Partridge used for Yeats for a Mother Goose book was pretty touching as well.
Bale gave an awesome performance.

I think the part where he runs as fast as he can to save Mary, but does not make it is truly heartbreaking as followed by his first real outburst of emotion on the street. It made me cry and the majority of my friends.

To me I think without a doubt the most emotional is definitely a tie between the scene where he sees the world from his window and the scene where he couldn't save Mary. I liked the dawn scene cause his reaction was genuine and the "unable to reach Mary" scene because again, his reaction was genuine. This movie proves that Christian Bale is under rated.

Mine is a tie between the "1st sunrise" scene, & the one where he saves the puppy. The look that comes over his face when the puppy licks him, is perfect. And you can actually hear the anguish in his voice during the dialogue: "Seems to me, that some of these animals ought to be tested for disease...".

The part that got me the most with the "Dogs" sequence was how the editing was done. The choppy flinches of Preston was perfect to demonstrate his emotion to the situation while the animals are being shot. Bale's reactions and the manner in which they were edited together were an exceptional means of conveying the emotional feelings to the audience.

I think for me its a tie between Preston's wife being taken away and when he cries in the street. Those are the two that really stick in my mind, although the way the dog shooting scene was edited was brilliant too and made that a very harrowing scene.

I remember when Preston breaks down on the steps thinking, "Oh my gosh!!! He didn't just do that !!??"

I know, I just thought "You're for it now, Preston." It's really touching, the way he just doesn't care anymore and lets go right there in the street.
I know its not exactly emotional, but another great scene is when we first meet him at the beginning, he steps out of the car and that kick ass music plays, and you just think "Man, he's gonna kick some Sense Offender ass!"

the whole snow globe scene imo, because you can see exactly how he is feeling, and you can imagine what it must be like to hear music for the first time.

Yes.. the snow globe scene is beautifully done, camera angles were perfect, the right music and everything! So emotional and in the right time of the movie also..

The one scene (as I stated earlier : ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cheesy.png) when preston walks aimlessly out of the palace of justice after mary died is so sad. The background music, the lifeless people passing him by and the vacant and loveless look in his eyes is compelling to feel sad for the character that killed so many people. ![:-[](http://www.equilibriumfans.com/smilie-gunkata.gif)

I really like the camera work in the section you just mentioned. If I remember correctly (its been awhile since I've seen EQ) but it seems like instead of using a steady cam it might have been a handheld. This gives the segment a drunken, uneasy feel, like Preston is about to throw-up. Kinda the same effect as when my kids use the camcorder. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I actually like the scene with his kid rather well. When he discovers that his kid hasn't been taking his meds either, and wonders how and such.
I also have a thing for the waking up after nightmare scene. Poor guy doesn't' understand how his heart could be beating so fast.

*siiiiiigh*
I watched the movie over again last night with a friend (female one) of mine. I so much enjoyed this planned drooling session.
Like I said earlier. I think women must have an advantage when they not only think the movie kicks ass on the whole, but also get to look at that beautiful creature... hehehe..
