NOTE: Mature language and situations, retrograde attitudes, savage satire, and the moral refinement of a pack of ravening dingoes will appear in this thread. Nothing is sacred. This story at one place or another mercilessly attacks just about everything and every angle on everything, including sex, politics, and religion. YOU have been warned!A few words about this project.[/i] I would love to write and publish an official EQ-spinoff novel with Clerics and Sense-Offenders. However, with the possible exception of something Sontin-Judas FM mentioned some time ago, the copyright owners seem unwilling to ever let that happen. I wrote "Roses For Maria," which I could post here as a fan-fic, but still not publish. This is my own creation, frankly inspired by EQ but with nothing in it that would be copyright infringement. It's an homage, and I hope that will come out in places. One friend has called it a cyberpunk fusion of "Brazil" and "Atlas Shrugged." My own literary classification for it would be Satire. I will update at least once a week, and I will continue the story from where it left off, unless I make an indication that there's an edit. I plan to edit any parts that might be offensive to the community. (However, I guarantee that in the final manuscript I will have here, there will be something to offend absolutely everyone.) This extract from Part One will serve more or less the "official teaser" for the whole story and will probably go on the back jacket when I publish it. He looked again at her, directly into her eyes. “Damn,” he muttered under his breath. “Woman or machine--machine or woman?”
“Humod, sir,” she said levelly. “Created to your custom design, rebuilt by you out of human bioremains. Shipped out, tested and modified and remodified and retested by various hands around the world over the last three years--to your specifications, in consultation with you, bought and paid for by you--and, needless to say, all completely illegal under Federal and State law, NAE and PACES regulations, and UN conventions. There are things I am not intended for, and things I will never be able to process. But I can see traces of the salata Caprese you had for lunch on your teeth. I have already scanned your fingerprints and retinal patterns and filed them in my memory cache, and I can bioreplicate them, given a little time. By the veins in your eyes I can see that your blood pressure is currently exceeding recommended standards. I can run a three-minute mile, upload any kind of data at the rate of one gigabyte per second with total recall, speak two hundred ninety-three languages and dialects, and kill a great white shark in the water with my bare hands. Anything I can’t do, you don’t want done. Trust me, sir. I am yours now--delivery is complete. One thing. Do not fuck me.”>< >< >< >< >< ><

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I wish I had the time to read all this... Don't worry, comrade. I'll undoubtedly be taking a few 'breaks' along the way ... I'm embarrassingly and unprofessionally dependent on inspirations, which, as we all know, come erratically at best.

Think again--it's already happening in a certain tres chic country right now! Click here if you dare.[/quote] *jaw drop* ...at the thought of the woman with the 6 month old and a 215 mile commute!

"Cherie...just popping down to ze shop for anozer bebe." ;D LOL! 'I shall ask zis only once. Do you 'ave a preference...la girl or le boy?'I used to be an...as it is now...HR Senior Officer with the County Council (or maybe it was the 3rd Conciliary ) in Nottingham and our maternity provisions at the time were appalling. It was a male-dominated Civil Eng dept and the Assistant Director had a real issue with pregnant staff. I fell foul myself when he refused to let me return to my HR post and told me I'd have to go into the Finance Admin section (which he could do because of how our job descriptions worked). I resigned...which is actually what he wanted.

Personally, poll or no poll, I'd say leave it here. I for one always read and enjoy it! Although I and others may not comment, I see no reason why you should remove it from here. I like the diversity of fictions and talent on this forum, whether they be directly or indirectly infuenced by, or totally removed from the world of EQ. Keep 'em coming I say! ;D

This story at one place or another mercilessly attacks just about everything and every angle on everything, including sex, politics, and religion. YOU have been warned![/i] Finally! New post up onsite at the NMAL World HQ, www.alderisland.org. I'll post it here in a few days, I guess.
I've thought long and hard about continuing to post here. It's not an EQ story. But it is, kind of, because while many prequels to EQ start with Father's post-apocalyptic vision, none that I recall purport to bridge the gap from the world we live in now, TO the apocalypse that set Father on his way.
I suppose a lot of stories, from "Doctor Strangelove" on down, could do that. However, this one is designed to be compatible with EQ, and "Roses For Maria/The Aion Engine," to form a mega-story that takes us from now up to two-hundred-odd years into the future. It could happen something like this ... it won't happen just like this of course, but whatever happens will I am sure be equally--if not even more--bizarre and degenerate.

This story at one place or another mercilessly attacks just about everything and every angle on everything, including sex, politics, and religion. YOU have been warned!I'm now starting to promote my first novel "Karasevdah" on the street: with it I will be including a cross-promotion for NMAL which includes the following 'official' blurb sheet ...[/i] America, AD 2116 ...North America is a federated entity. The "long war" is over. Europe isn't wholly Muslim, but it's Muslim enough. Biomedical research, once hailed as the means to save mankind, was a ruinously expensive fiasco producing a wavelet of boutique babies and adding a few years to the lives of the elderly and sick. Overall, birthrates plummeted: few could afford children, especially due to the massive carbon tax now required of every newborn's parents, and a wave of sterilizing disease. The latter had a side benefit: the commercialization of sex, which you can now call for, legal, taxed, and efficient, as people once called for pizza; and you can get a carton of marijuana with it--it's the only thing you can smoke legally. The old "United States" survives, and on paper it's impressive. But the new "United States" of the world is a network of shadow governments that can no longer be called 'gangs,' engaged in trafficking technology, terror, weapons, oil, drugs, and human bodies--whole, living ones, and commercially valuable tissue and organs. President Tawnisha Jefferson rules by press release, executive order, and bureaucratic policy, while Congress has become a club of lawyers and bankers engaged in histrionics and corporate raiding. The city of Neo-Seattle is a virtual island in the midst of power-starved 'blackout country;' its politicians are no better than the rest, and a string of blood-drained corpses, together with rumors of walking biotech time-bombs, aren't helping matters. Rhys Macklin--Neo-Seattleite, billionaire doctor and America's most hated man--has a prescription. But it's going to take shots from a needle like nothing you ever saw ... and this treatment is NOT covered by insurance ... Read at www.alderisland.org. Contains mature language and situations. He looked again at her, directly into her eyes. “Damn,” he muttered under his breath. “Woman or machine--machine or woman?”
"Humod, sir,” she said levelly. “Created to your custom design, rebuilt by you out of human bioremains, sent off to be tested and modified and remodified and retested by various hands around the world over the last three years--to your specifications, in consultation with you, bought and paid for by you--all completely illegal ... New post up at the official site, in which EG Rhys receives a puzzling message from his wife. And one Alder Island girl seeks to make the ultimate gesture of support, while another meditates rebellion against the order.
The official site's address--should one forget--can be found listed on my EQ User Profile. I'll reproduce it here, so to speak, in a few days.
Finally, while "Nonstop Murder & Lust" has been the working title, I have settled on an official, official name for the whole trilogy. That name is: 1002: A Spaced Odyssey.
