I know it's not related to EQ "directly" but I think we can all love a good action movie. Today they released the "full" trailor for Matrix: Reloaded. It's like 2 minutes and 30 secs long. Looks like it's going to be FUN! And just think, it gets released two days after EQ comes to DVD so we action fans will have TWO things to celebrate that week in May whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rl_cmp/trailer_final.html

We can talk about other films here. Cinema doesn't begin and end with Equilibrium. Anyway, I caught the new Matrix trailer yesterday on E News Live. Sat through the whole damn show just to get a glimpse. EXCELLENT!!! This is going to be one awesome May. EQ release to DVD then Reloaded in the theaters!! (That's not even mentioning X2)

I liked the first Matrix very mush, but I wasn't happy with reloaded- some sequences mush too long, and they didn't seem to keep their focus. Also some action scenes where not as nice and developed as the first one... they lacked to mush STRONG IDEAS to make a decent sequel. I.M.O.
Then I saw Terminator 3, I wasn't to sure about it... but hell it was better than I expected... ;D

I think I enjoyed Reloaded a bit more than you, perhaps, but you make good points. I think Reloaded was very puzzling. "Why did it happen?" "Because it was supposed to." There are so many loose ends to tie up and answers I want to see in Revolutions. If they tie everything up, I'll be happy, but if not, then Reloaded and Revolutions will be basically fluff. All action and little substance, whereas, I thought The Matrix had both good action and a good story. Come November, we'll see.

Perhaps one thing I wanted to add about Reloaded: sometimes it made me feel like looking at a giant music video. Take for example the Zion party - way to long - and it almost reminded me of some shower gel publicity. As in the first one, there was also a scene in a club - but there it was kept short and focused... But anyway, yes I also must see Revolutions, and I trully hope it's gonna be good... I used to be a true Matrix Fan until I discovered Equilibrium! ;D

I think that Zion party scene was utterly useless.. all the Matrix fans I know argue against that but they never have a real purpose for that scene to 'enlighten' me with. I think it should have never been in the movie.

I loved the first Matrix film but thought the second one was a mess. I realize they were going for a anime live action but I think something was lost in the translations. Here are a few of my observations (some repeated from other posts made here before)
1. Keane is great a playing a lost soul. He's unbelievable as an all powerful god.
2. The music, completely different from the first film and I think suffers for it. (where is my tecno rock that I loved!!)
3. They had too much money which = a handicap in editing. They spent it, shot it, & wanted to show it. It needed to be fine tuned.
4. My son pointed out that the first film is actually a gothic flick. The second is not. I tend to agree with him. The tone and texture of the two films were too different for me to accept.
5. Things I really loved...Neo's Sailor Moon (anime) spin (done twice) & the 1 Adam 12 reference.

the first one had a generous amount of money too has anyone seen the revolutions trailer? For the first one, they had $75 million; and for Reloaded and Revolutions, they had a total budget of $300 million. Yep, I saw the Revolutions trailer at the end of Reloaded. Very short trailer and not nearly as impressive as the Reloaded trailers. Not really sure what to expect from the third film. In Reloaded, I got the impression that the machines are trying to manipulate Neo to their end. We'll see...

I think it should have never been in the movie. Yeah, that scene was a bit difficult for me to watch, because I thought it was so STUPID. The only purpose I can possibly see for it is to tie it in with Trinity and Neo making love, but that doesn't make sense either. I would have much rather just watched the two of them together than a big Zion orgy, or whatever it was supposed to be!

Even the love-making scene seemed out of place.....I mean, I know that Trinity and Neo go together real well, but that scene seemed a bit off tangent. The orgy scene was cool, as it showed the citizens of Zion celebrating one last time before the coming war. What better way to go out. Call me cooky, but I see it the other way around. The orgy/dance was well placed, but not the love-making scene.

These are great. I could not agree more with number 1. And I particularly like your son's reference to The Matrix being a gothic flick, while the others are not. Very good insight he has. I hadn't considered this before, but he's right. Thanks!

I think I was going with what emotions I experienced during the shots. When they showed the Zion crowd, I felt bored and skittish and wanted only to get back to Trinity and Neo. Thanks for your take. I love food for thought!
