| | EQ DVD question « Thread Started on Jul 27, 2006, 6:50am » | |
Apologies if this question has been asked before. I have the Region 2 DVD which basically contained the disc and nothing else, not even an insert with info on it, disappointingly. Was this the case with the Region 1 DVD as well? Plus, were any other versions of this film ever released eg. Director's Cut/Special Edition? I'm assuming not as I'm sure it would have been mentioned on this site somewhere. Were there ever any plans to do a Director's Cut etc.? I think I remember Kurt Wimmer saying something about "if there's ever a special edition released..." on the director's commentary.

You mean if it did not have any chapter list or booklet that talks about the movie? then my answer is no us region 1's got the raw end of the deal too. That sucks.
Answer to second Question: In the commentary he did say something about a special edition but since it's a underground cult movie here in the U.S there might not be one for a while. I don't know about England But if you seen The Boondock Saint which is another cult classic it took six years for a special edition to come out. So who know maybe they might release one out soon and they're keeping it a secret.

Hmmph...I figured as much. I guess I'll just have to keep hoping that this may still happen if the movie's cult status stays consistent, which it seems to be doing. The fact that it gained new fans (including me! ) after its recent showing on Channel 4 over here proves that there is genuine interest in this film. This may prompt the powers that be to do something about a special edition at some point. Maybe they could do an EQ/UV boxed set with extended editions - that would be very cool.

Well, in the commentary he said "if" not "when" although I definitely think it's a matter of when since there is such a strong, loyal following of the film. However, I do not expect a re-release of this film on this format. If anything, it'll be on the newer home video formats and even then I don't think they'll be a special edition for a while.
And the closest thing to a special edition of the film there is, is the Korean release...but that's mostly due to the really elaborate packaging of the film and I think it even includes a DTS track.

The would most likely to do that. They did it to Full Metal Jacket which is on HD-DVD in a new widescreen format . but hey if we are lucky enough they will make it for both format. cause I love the movie but I'm not wasting $500.00 on a HD-DVD player just to see the special edition.

I had two Reg 2 EQ DVDs. I can't remember if I bought the first one from eBay, or wherever or even if it was new, but it has an 8 page booklet inside. The other one, which I got brand new from HMV, didn't. *shrugs* so I don't know what went off there. Weird.

Those scans are very cool! Thanks Friv and Jen for making them available to the rest of us. I wonder how many other people got that booklet with the DVD? I don't get the impression it was very widely distributed. *shrugs*

Usually if they even make booklets/inserts they come with the first printing.

Man I love those scans. I hope that if they make a special edition they should put this as an insert but with some extra pages. And possibly a metal DVD case.

Okay the Korean Version is on sale for $14.99 on ebay right now but you need a Region 3 DVD player to see it. But if you want it as a collectors item then I suggest you buy it now.
