You know you've watched too much Equilibrium when
« Thread Started on Jul 25, 2003, 10:27pm »

You know you have watched too much Equilibrium when...

1) you spell the word so often, you don't make a typo on it anymore.

2) You repeat The line "Cleric Johnnnn Preston, you are under arrest, blam!" cause it sounded cool

3) You probably could recite the entire script.

4) you walk about very serious for at least one portion of the day

5) you try out your "dont mess with me cleric-expression" on someone

6) your alarm beeps and you think it's time to take your prozium

7) For military/police you place your gun and magazine on your vehicle before going on duty, so you can take it up by the nozzle with the magazine housing pointing upwards, and slam in the magazine" (yeah I did that ;)

8) You wonder who manipulates the political puppet George W. Bush

9) you want to carry two sidearms on duty instead of just one

the list goes on!

keep it going!

LMFAO!

10) You just know DuPont was the one responsible for the beeping Seat Belt Nazi in your cheap car because he has a sick sense of humor.

11. When you go to work, you secretly start lining up annoying co-workers for gun kata

12. You consider actually learning gun kata and becoming an assassin, buying the alien/cleric watch, and modified berretta pistols, and cleric jacket and calling yourself a tetra grammaton cleric

13. Your msn name is Tetra Grammaton Cleric

14. You set out in search of a web site that has a message forum with other people who talk about and praise the movie ;D

15. You try to convince as many people you know to watch the film too & you stop at nothing to make sure they'll even like it! (I've been successful!) ;D

16. You download the soundtrack from the Net even if it doesn't officially exist & you don't care how long it takes (another sucess of mine!) ;)

17. If not yet owning a bought copy you download the film from the Net, plus the trailer too! (me again!) :)

18. You turn into a Bale fan (if you weren't one already) & go on a hunt for all his other films & wait impatiently for his next work, yet still believe without a doubt that John Preston absolutely is his best character ever played. 8-)

OK, here's my small contribution:

15. You are very fond towards the girls going by the name of Mary

16. You are REALLY fond towards the girls going by the name of Mary O'Brien

17. After finishing some task, you say: "Case closed. Target sentenced for burning".

18. When visiting your friends you wonder how many sense-offending things they have.

19. When walking down the street you expect father to pop-out of a nearby street screen. ;D

20. When someone says to you: "You can't do this!" you reply with a deadly glare: "Tetragrammaton, there is nothing we cannot do."

21. You try to interogate people, asking them if they have taken their daily dose of Prozium.

;D ;D ;D

19. You start a mass collection of items that would be rated EC-10 to preserve for the next generations of Sense Offenders.

20. You even get a fake copy of the Mona Lisa just to be sure at least the motive survives.

21. You listen to Beethoven as often as you can & sometimes the music does bring you to tears!

22. You start to rearrange your desk at work!

23. You begin to look at sunrises with new eyes.

24. To save animals becomes a life's work to you, even if it means risking your own life.

25. You wonder if it was a Cleric riding in the white car that passed you.

26. You start to hide things behind your bathroom mirror.

27. You start reading Yeates.

28. You carry with you a small object from the one you love everywhere in your pocket.

29. Every conversation with everyone you meet eventually gets detoured to the topic of Equilibrium.

30. You begin buying not only one copy but two of all the films posters & stuff... (so far I have 2 USA, 2 UK, 2 Japanese mini posters, 2 DVD posters (one in French), two Japanese Programs, and 2 DVDs R1...also soon to have 2 cleric watches, & two sets of Thai Lobby Cards.)

31. Tempted to begin collecting all the other DVD regions just for their cover art.

32. You use your kids toy pistol on the ice because images of the "gun butt" sequence gave you the idea that it actually might work. (it does and it was quite a rash!! ;D)

33) you wonder if watching the dvd over and over again will wear out the disc.

34) you want to buy a 16/9 HDTV just so you can see widescreen without letterbox. ( or too much)

(deletions added)

Completely! The other day, I was on the phone with a friend of mine who hadn't seen EQ yet (he's since rectified this and LOVED it). He was speaking of his art and the emotions entailed in creating it. When he paused, I went on to explain that was another great thing about Equilibrium; it had everything to do with emotions. For a moment, he was like, what? But as I continued, he soon realized my absolute adoration of the film, and hurried to purchase it from amazon.com as we finished our conversation. ;D

35) you hum the electrifying Eq sound theme constantly

(which is the one you hear at the end when he is in the limo in white heading for father)

this is a theme played throughout the movie, the most frequent one, and has about 3 variations...

its "you must kill him" on soundtrack

Evidence is also good. Encounter.

- You start learning how to do a butterfly kick whilst holding two guns.
- You seriously look into buying a polygraph machine, just to make the needle go apeshit.
- Start and online poll to get EQ re-released to theaters.
- Run around yelling "Oh, shit!" with a motorcycle helmet on.

you circulate around imdb.com messageboards to tell people to watch EQ (I just recruited one more fan from my Newsies lovers on imdb ;D)

you go to the Matthew Broderick messageboard (which you KNOW you have friends) and post a topic titled "Off-Topic: Go Watch Equilibrium"

you beg your chemistry teacher to show EQ in class--"It has everything to do with what we're studying. I swear!" ;D

you beg your English teacher to show EQ in class--"Of course it has something to do with poetry!" (after all, didn't Partrigde read a line from Yeats?)

you get very serious every time you say "I'm coming!"

I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square." Song's so catchy, most people don't even listen to the lyric anymore. But they should! Cause it's not just about the pleasure of conformity and the importance of trend, it's also a personal statement about the band itself! Hey, Paul! *whap*

You punch yourself in the face to get a split lip.

Every time a guy in a moterbike helmet goes past, you narrow your eyes and growl.

You suddenly find yourself breaking into gun-kata on the dance floor (too...much...alchohol...)

You carry your umbrella underhand style.

You watch Braveheart and expect Robert the Bruce to start stroking the table.

You watch Braveheart and expect Robert the Bruce to start some Teteagrammaton style ass-whupping during the battle scenes

You give an evil cackle whenever you hear the phrase "losing face."

You watch Lord of the Rings and wonder why Boromir doesn't hold a book up in front of the Uruk-Hai archer at the end.

Whenever someone is really annoying you, you find yourself trying to activate some non-existant spring-load wrist holsters.

You have a thing about stroking stair banisters.

You have almost irrisistable urges to run up to parked motercycles and...(Crunch. Ambulance please.)

Your freinds ask you why you have a rice crispie superglued to the top-right of your nose.

You pick up the puppies of total straingers, pronounce them diseised and walk off with the dog under your arm.

When the police pull you over, you inform them that you have a pre-dawn combustion to witness. And that there's nothing in the trunk.

You keep trying to turn handshakes into wrist-locks. (Sorry, thought your were a sweeper.)

Your freinds ask you why your floor is always covered in broken snowglobes.

"No we DON'T sell white hubcaps! Uh...is that spraypaint on your car?"

The last thing the Pizza Delivery biker ever hears is "No. Not without incident."

-you look up the gun-licensing laws in your country to see if you can get a pair of Berettas

-anything derogatory towards Equilibrium is considered 'fighting talk'

-pulled over, you announce that you are the highest-ranking Cleric in the Tetra Grammaton and expect everyone to go to pieces

and finally...

-you use your "You know you've watched too much Equilibrium when..." list as your List of Things To Do Today :P

I was poncing around in my room the other day, going through various Gun Kata motions, convincing myself it's research for the graphic novel I'm "working" on. Thing is in the UK it hasn't been release on VHS or DVD yet. (Though apparently it's out to rent today and I may try to convince my friends to watch it when we come home form the pub)

You walk by a William Butler Yeats anthology in the library and can't help but feel regret.

You start picking fights in the bad section of town only to see if you can gun-kata them.

You actually take the time to tab out the Wagnerian guitars :P (that would be me)

You've started concepts for your short EQ film (me again!)
