 Judas' Equilibrium Adventure Game
« Thread Started on Mar 31, 2004, 6:01pm »

Well after working on this for 5 months I'm more then honored to give you guys Judas' new creative endeavor...her Equilibrium themed adventure game.

From Judas' PFAQs...

Firstly, this is an ADVENTURE game with an actual storyline to it, not a 'point mouse at enemy and blow up, repeat ad nauseum' game. Secondly, you're a party girl from the 21st century, so the chances of your knowing Gun-Kata are pretty remote. And thirdly, I'm not that good an animator :P Like I said, I write adventure games, not action ones. If I do the sequel to this, you might be able to do Gun-Kata in that one. I'm not sure.

You guys can download it now before I actually have it on the site...

http://www.freewebs.com/equilibrium-movie/EQGame.zip
(Note - copy & paste addie into browser - direct link will not work through Proboards)

If you have questions or comments please leave them here but be sure you check the HOW TO PLAY file before you ask any questions that Judas has already covered in her PFAQs (Potentially Frequently Asked Questions)

Works for me ;D Another huge thankyou to JenGe for hosting this; I hope you guys enjoy it :D It's a full-length game (sort of...took me about two plus hours to get through without the debug keys) so hopefully it'll keep people busy for a while ;)

Just started it....it's neat. Generally, I suck at games, usually because I never kill my opponents fast enough (except for Tomb Raider) I love the puzzle type, keeps the brain cells active.... ;D

Thanks ;D As for the getting lots of votes...well, I was hoping to enter this game for the AGS awards, but I since checked the site and it turns out I missed the deadline for this year :'( So I guess it doesn't matter too much now except to let me know which bits need improving. Maybe I can get the sequel done in time for the next one *brightens up*

Quick query; has anyone playing this had trouble with restoring save games? I just got a message from someone who says that she can't restore a game saved just before she exits; apparently the 'Quit Game' dialog comes up every time. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, I'll need to update it in the sequel to put in a Cancel button (actually, I'll probably do that anyway)

Aye, I got that problem. Just before I exited the game it prompted whether do I want to save the game. I saved it, but for the hell I couldn't restore it when I started the game again. Fortunately enough I was just right at the beginning.

Okay, then it's a programming error on my part *cringes* Sorry :( I'll get the menu fixed for the next one, in the meantime, saving before you choose to quit and that menu comes up should help sort it out, for anyone else with this problem :-[

*head sinks below keyboard in major embarrassment* :-[ I tested the menu and when it ran the commands, I never thought to load a saved game. *brightens up slightly* Still...at least it's fixable for the next one ;)

EDIT--Okay...I hate spoiling surprises, but I got tipped off by someone this morning on the AGS forum and think it only fair to pre-warn people about this one:

Before you leave the tunnel system, either to go to the Underground or Libria, SAVE THE GAME! There's a bug-it's not the game, it's the actual engine used to create the game-and sometimes it'll crash when you come out. If it happens, keep restoring and going back and eventually it'll work. I've no idea what causes it; like I said, it's a bug in the engine, not the game itself :(

'NOTHER EDIT--Don't use the keycard on Rosaline; you'll get stuck. It's a testing thing I put in and forgot to take out again. I only mention this because someone PMed me to say they'd had a problem doing this.

Hi Judas...I'm having a lot of trouble with the tunnels, when I'm the cute hound...the game crashes and says something about a character not being there...Also, I think I'm being truly dense following my 'nose' 'cos I can't tell which way is North or South (Got the dreaded Lurgi atm, so my sense of direction is shot...y'know, can't find my....with two hands and a map!) ;D

;) Well, North is up and South is down :P The tunnel system's a bugger; most of the people on the AGS forums have been having problems as well. Just for the record (and I'm thinking of adding this to my signature :P) it's not a scripting error; it's a bug within the programming engine itself (there's never been any MoveCharacter command in that room or the room before and line 55 of the global script deals with cursor modes)

Okay. Although I swore never, ever to do this, I'm going to post the safe way here.

(BTW, Sparkplug kind of gets lost in the tunnels; largely 'cause I forgot to change one of the words)

1. First of all, it seems to be playing as Sparkplug that triggers it. So, much as it pains me to admit it 'cause I thought it was pretty cool playing as a dog :P, don't play as him. Other people have gone as Roz all the way through and not had any problems.

2. (I'll hide this bit to avoid spoiling it for others :P) To get through the tunnel system, go...erm...*digs out map and goes cross-eyed trying to follow it* oh right...highlight the following to find out:

R,D,D,U,L,D,L,D,U,D

Again, it's only playing as Sparkplug that seems to trigger it, so if you restore a game from before switching to him, you should be fine. Just in case though...better save the game whenever you leave the tunnel system ;)

Hope this helps...sorry for the problems. Like I say, for once it's not my scripting :P

Hey,no probs Judas...s'funny, but I'd actually mucked up the being the dog bit and started the tunnels as Ros (and I did go upNorth and downSouth), then I restored the game and changed to being the mutt...ah well (tbh, I'm having so much fun with it, it'll be a bonus making it last longer! ;D)

LOL The sequel is definitely going ahead, but actual production has been put on hold until after Easter, mainly because with any luck I'll be getting WorldBuilder Pro for my Easter present, so fingers crossed the backgrounds and figures will be much more realistic. I'll post screenshots if anyone's interested (as soon as I have them) One thing I'll definitely be putting in is the points system; I thought about doing it for this one to offer replayability value (*wonders how many people really did everything you could in the game*) but it would have been too complicated to add halfway :(

LOL! Yep, that's one thing...how about these? (highlight to read, possible spoilers)

1. Did you fix up the meeting between Preston and Jurgen?

2. Or break the other prisoners out of the Tetra Grammaton?
