 Atlanta Q&A
« Thread Started on Mar 24, 2003, 3:29pm »

Ok guys I need your help coming up with a possible list of questions for the Q&A session after the film. Is there anything that you are just dying to ask that can't be resolved by deductive reasoning?

(By deductive reasoning I mean....I don't care where the babies come from!!! ;D)

Actually I can answer this one for you right now since its in the film. They sleep in seperate beds. When Preston wakes he is in a single bed and next to him is another single bed, empty and without bedding. You can see it in this picture from the USA trailer...the bed at the top is hers.

i dont know if this has been covered on the site before since im new, but how about the gun swapping, i know at chud we could not figure it out in the early days after the movie came out, is it a hole or is their a reason the swap took place after the "crime", i dont know if you would want to bring up plot holes but just an idea

oops, but that still doesnt really clear it up, those explanations have been floating around for awhile, and i dont know if can i truly believe them, their are holes in all of the current explanations, maybe that is how he wanted it, and if his answer was "i did it on purpose and it is open for your interpretation" that would be great, i just want to know if it is a plot hole so it doesnt continue to run through my mind every day. if it is not i dont want the answer id like to try and figure it out for myself. i understand if jenge wouldnt want to ask because it seems a little rude to ask him about a possible mistake, but i thought id just throw it out there since every person i have taken to see it has brought it up.

Wimmer has been asked about possible mistakes in EQ on CHUD and he has been very gracious about it. I just love, "The guy's an alien" comment. :D

But like you said I don't know if this is one I want to be told the answer. Some aspects of the film were intentionally left ambiguous and to be hand lead through them by the creator I think would ruin the fun of interpretation. On the other hand though he's mentioned some things on CHUD that just bring up even more questions....Mary...Dupont??? ;D

Just keep telling him how great the film was! I mean constantly, clap all the time, give him gifts etc etc.

Ask him if we're ever going to see a soundtrack release, cause so many people loved it.

Tell him that we need to see Gun Kata again, in another film.

Richard.

Ok, this is what I've got so far...

1. Did you read nouseforaname's fan fic?

2. How much influence did Hong Kong cinema have on the film and who we're those influences??

3. Let's finish the deal with the two Vivanna Prestons..

4. Can you make us a flow chart of the gun swap?

5. What type of gifts would you want from your adoring fans?

6. How many virgins do we need to sacrifice to get a soundtrack release?

7. How many film/lit/other references are layered or hidden in EQ?

That's a start. I can't make any promises. Anything else??

I'd like to know what made him choose Christian Bale for the role and who else had been approached (if anyone)?

He's just so perfect I couldn't imagine anyone else pulling it off so well.

Also why can't we have a EQ2 as it's apparently been stated here will be no sequel, The whole thing cries out for sense offenders to carry on the uprising and exploring the difficulties a society would have with the return of raw emotion after such a long term of abstinance(??).

For me I think I'll add...

When Preston points his gun at the screen and states "I'm coming"...(BANG!!)... is that your personal declaration of war on the MPAA or just your way of announcing your first film?

There have been some rumors floating around about Leonardo DeCaprio but I'm not sure how valid they are.

I, too, am most interested in hearing the scoop about the 2 Vivianna Prestons.

JenGe, I'm totally jealous. I'd love to go to Atlanta, too. I'm sure you'll represent us well. You'll have to report back on every little thing!

I'd like you to ask how they pulled off the Preston doing a flip off of the motorcycle scene. Wymer says he used no "wire-fu" i beleave and i'd like to know how the stunt was done and if Bale did the flip himself.

Also, ask him if there's a snowball's chance in hell to see the principle of the film adapted to other mediums such as Graphic novels. I'd sure like to read more "adventures" of Preston as he further fights the old regime.

And beg him to sign a deal with sideshow/weta to create a line of costume and weapon replicas for me to spend all my hard earned money on :)

I'd ask him what he thinks about people having seen the movie only because they've "broken the law" and downloaded it. Does he think it'll increase the popularity of the movie and sell more dvds or does he think it'll hurt profit? What does he think of "internet piracy" in general?

Whats he think of someone like me who ment to see the movie in theaters but it never seemed to come out. Eventually I heard the movie was good and downloaded it, now its one of my favorite movies and i'll definitely buy the dvd ?

Hi Fishback & Welcome!!

Well Wimmer already answered part of your question on the CHUD message board...

Quote:
thanks for chiming in on this whole download issue. For me, it's not an issue of revenue at all - that's the studio's deal. For me, I really just want everyone to see the film in the way that allows them to enjoy it the most. I mean, what fool downloads some cruddy lo-res version of TTT? If I am going to take the time, I want to enjoy it - and that generally means the theater or the best home-theater system I can find. With EQ (I think) the pleasure of the experience lies to a large degree in FEELING the bass of those bullets firing. So, for those who want to download - seriously - why bother? Your time's more valuable than that.

Wimmer's comments on downloading @ CHUD

I know that may sound a bit harsh but I understand where he's coming from. In fact I'd go so far as to say that the only real way to truly experience any film is in the theater PERIOD (I'm a bit more fanatically ;D). The reason people are downloading EQ is because moviegoers for the most part were tragically not given this option. I for one hope that all the downloading sends some kind of message to the powers that be who blew it on this one.

Since Wimmer has already stated that downloading is not "issue of revenue" for him I'll include your question, "Whats he think of someone like me who (downloaded it though) meant to see the movie in theaters but it never seemed to come out (and just couldn't wait any longer)?"

How does that sound??

Whoops messed up on the above post.

I think that he would answer that question nearly the same as he did on the CHUD board. I thought of a couple more, I dunno if these are obvious or not but here it goes, or of course if they have already been answered on the CHUD board. (I'll have to spend sime time and read that whole thing.)

1.What happened to the movie? Why such a small opening?

2. Did he feel like maybe he had failed because the movie wasn't allowed to live up to its full potental?

Also I did'nt really agree with his answer, I first downloaded a low quality copy and even though it was about 3x3 in's and filmed with a camcorder I still thought the movie was awesome. So I got a near dvd quality one and it was even better. I dunno how to put this into a good question.
